Kathmandu valley has always been a centre of attraction for various cultures, religion, arts and crafts. It is the capital city of Nepal and also known as city of temples. The valley consists of important monuments and pilgrimage sites for both Hindu and Budddhist. Detail Itinerary
You will drive to Swyambhunath. This Buddhist site is over 2000 years old and is situated on a high hill, in the western part of Kathmandu valley. It is famous as "Monkey Temple" because of the presence of Rhesus Monkey. It reflects the unique synergy between Buddhists and Hindus.
After visting Swyambhunath, you will visit Kathmandu Durbar Square where the Kings of Nepal were crowned until 2001. It is also known as Hanuman Dhoka Durbar Square surrounded by both Hindu and Buddhist temple. Most of them are build in Pagoda style. The major attraction of this place are the "Kumari Ghar" where living goddess resides, "the Kasthamandap", "Kal Bhairava", "Taleju temple", "Maru Ganesh", Mahadhev, Shivaparvati temple etc. The carving and architecture around the Durbar area are the most important sights of attraction for travellers.
Patan Durbar Square is another place worth to visit in Kathmandu. Newar culture is highly flourished enlighting the history of Malla kings. "Krishna Mandir", Bhimsen Temple, Vishwanath temple, Taleju Bhawani are some of the unique and artistic structure that can be observed in the area. Different visual carvings can also be seen, along with the culture and tradition of Newar community living in the area.
Bhaktapur Durbar Square is situated about 13 km east from capital city Kathmandu which is also listed in UNESCO world heritage site. It is also one of the Newari city rich in art, sculptures, tradition, culture and its old fashioned streets and temples. Major site of attraction are 55 Window Palace, Nyatapola Temple, Golden gate, Vatsala temple, statue of Bhupatindra Malla etc.
The world pilgrimage site and holy shrine of Hindu is one of the most renowned place to visit in Nepal. The temple is located at the bank of Bagmati river about 5km noth-east of Kathmandu valley. It is a complex area comparised of ashrams, temples, images and inscription. The main temple is built in Pagoda style and surrounded by other hundreds of small temples.Every year thousands of Hindu throughout the world visit the Temple.
The Stupa reflecting the culture and tradition of Tibetan, Buddhism is the largest Buddhist stupa in Asia. The stupa is surrounded by numerous other Gompas which has become the major place for tourists to visit in Kathmandu .
